Personal Bio of Josh Cairns

• The Early Years

  Born in the country Victorian town of Bendigo, Josh lived in nearby Kangaroo Flat with his parents and younger sister Liss, until the age of 9 when his father - a highly decorated Victoria Police officer - was transferred to Melbourne.

  For the next decade, Josh lived and schooled in Melbourne's outer Western Suburbs, forging lifelong friendships through his involvement in local basketball, football, tennis and squash clubs.

  Once it became evident that the NBA was not about to knock on the door any time soon, Josh started to focus his attention on preparing for an adventurous career in business.

• Getting Down to Business

  Josh had already started his business life many years earlier as an 8 year old in his Dad's backyard shed, building bird-feeders for his family and friends. He increased his profit margins by up-selling a bag of bird seed with each bird-feeder and so grew his love of business and marketing.

  Once he finished High School, Josh spent 2 years gaining real-world work experience before enrolling in university, where he continued to focus much of his time on learning 'real world' business skills - as opposed to those learned in the classroom.

  Josh famously worked 24 different jobs in just 5 years from the end of high school until the completion of his degree in Entrepreneurship.

  After completing his studies, Josh took a job at Australia's leading financial institution as a manager of Mobile Lending where he experienced world-class sales training, learned networking from the best in Australia, built a formidable list of broad business contacts and earned enough money to eventually spearhead his entrepreneurial pursuits.

  After high school, Josh managed to talk his way into this highly sought course, even though his 'enter score' was nowhere near high enough for admission through the standard channels.

  There is certainly an irony in going to university to get a degree in entrepreneurship - a field in which those that excel rarely attend more than one semester of university.
